Kaichou Wa Maid-sama!

The thing with me is that I just can't stop reading! And I also confess that I truly enjoy every bit of time when I'm reading mangas. Personally, I am not a huge fan of animes. I mean I really used to like them untill two years ago when I stumbled across my first manga. And it was 'Kaichou wa maid sama!' also know as 'maid sama'. I first watched it's anime but as it did not show the ending, I got extremely curious as to what happens next. When I googled it up, I found it's manga on the net and that was, what we call, love at first sight. During that time, all I would do is either watch animes or read books but when I discovered a completely different world which was the combination of both, I was overjoyed. I also tried shounen mangas for a change but as I had been reading only shojou ones, I did not find them much appealing. So here I am, reviewing a manga series I read over a year ago.

SUMMARY

Seika High, which was once an all boys school became a co-ed school recently. The school is very popular because of their ill mannered and wild students. The school has a very low girl population even after many years. Ayuzawa Misaki, a female student works very hard in order to gain trust of her teachers and becomes the school's first female presidentof the school. She hates boys and aims to make the school's girl population go up. She is known throughout the school as the strict, scary, demon, boy-hating president. Despite this, she is flawless in studies as well as sports and co-curriculars. But, there's a twist, she works part time a maid cafe because her mother is extremely sick and she needs to look after her younger sister. She had been successful in keeping her job as a secret when she is discovered at work by Usui Takumi, the school's popular boy. She assumes that he would tell the entire school about the news but instead, he keeps it to himself. He starts coming to the cafe frequently. But as time passed, she recieves all sorts of help from Usui and her hate slowly turns into affection bit by bit.

Though it may look like the typical rom com (it is) pretty decent and enjoyable. It has great humor and plot with a few different aspects. Whenever I'm feeling down, I just watch one episode of this anime,  and I'm left in stitches.

Our Male Lead, Usui Takumi was the "bad boy" kind of character. I did not have a very good first impression of him, but gradually as the story developed, I started to like him. His charater, I felt, was downright terrible at first, but he later develoed into a very caring and reliable person.

As for our Female Lead, Ayuzawa Misaki, I pretty much liked her character. She was independant, capable, competitive, feirce and feisty throughout. She had the power to defend herself and did not always rely on Usui for everything. She was the reason I kept on watching it futher cause I had thought that Usui was some jerk (tho I was proved wrong, he's a total cinnamon roll).

Overall, I think the story was very good and the author also has put some considerable effort in the side characters, not focusing  only on the main story. The art, according to me, was a bit lacking. It could have been better. On a scale of ten, I would give this 9.5.

. . .

Thanks for reading! Have a great day.
