Who Made Me A Princess

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

Athanasia and her father, Claude

I usually prefer reading shoujo japanese manga but during this lock down, I entered a whole new world of isekai and historical manga. Isekai mangas are just comics in which the MC enters another world. Sometimes it's time travel, sometimes reincarnation  or sometimes it's just entering a novel . . . the list goes on. And also, I developed a taste with historical mangas. I read at least a hundred of them but my favourite of them all was 'Who Made Me A Princess'.

Summary:

The story is about a popular internet novel called 'The Lovely Princess'. The book is about an illegitimate princess, Jennette Margarita who has been living as an adopted daughter of a Duke till she ages fourteen. When she is fourteen, the king, Claude De Alger Obelia, who still had neither an empress nor an heir, was informed of her existence. The king is very cold towards her at first but as Jennette is very cheerful by nature, she manages to melt the ice within her father.

But during all this, there was a secondary character which most of the people did not think much about. It was the second princess, Athanasia De Alger Obelia. She was a year or two younger than her half sister, Jennette, and the king knew of her existence since her birth. Her mother died in labour while her father did not show any affection for his daughter one bit. She tried all her life winning the slightest favour of her father when she is framed for poisoning Jennette and is eventually executed by the orders of the king.

Her sister was grief sticken when it was revealed that the princess was just framed and was not guilty but the king did not even feel the slightest bit of remorse or guilt even after knowing the truth. The Female Lead eventually marries Ijekiel, the biological son of the Duke, who later inherits his father's title, and they live hapilly ever after.

A woman from modern Asia stumbles across this book and eventually finishes the book just before sleeping after taking some sleeping pills. She wakes up crying. Who was the man on front of her? A blonde blue jewel eyed man was staring at her, giving her a cold gaze. She tries to speak but the words won't form. She lifts up her hand and. . . what? Her hand is of a baby's! During her time she learns that she is inside of the book she read the previous night as Athanasia and the man she saw before was her tyrannical father. She makes a plan to avoid her fate by trying her hardest to win the favour of the king. However, many unexpected turns take place and her plan is slowly moving away from its actual purpose. She becomes acquainted with a magician, Lucas, who transforms himself into a young kid and becomes the royal wizard. Ijekeil, who was supposed to marry Jennette in the book also starts taking a liking towards Athanasia.

She also comes across Jennette countless times and receives her help. She also finally earns her father's affection but Claude suddenly gets very sick and loses his memories of the past nine years. What makes it worse that whenever he sees Athanasia, his head starts paining severely and the adverse effect happens when he sees Jennette. Lucas was also not there to help Athanasia when she fled from the palace in fear of her father. She was presented to have an audience with him after things had settled down a bit.

She had just returned to the palace again when Lucas comes back. Knowing he is a great magician, she shows her father to him in hope he would get better. Lucas is confused at first but later confirms the news that her father is soon gonna die. There is also a mysterious man who is living at Jennette's residence whom she finds very comfortable to be with. Ijekiel's feelings towards Athanasia become so strong to the point he openly starts accepting it in front of Athanasia. He also tells Jennette indirectly that he is not interested in her at all but in Athanasia.

. . * * . .

I personally really liked it overall. I am a huge fan of rom coms as well as reverse harems and love triangles which start developing later in the story. Another plus point of this manga is its art. Oh, how much I love it! The author really managed to captivate its readers with the mesmerising art.

As for Athanasia, our FL, I personally liked her character overall. Though she acted a bit stupid in some situations, I think she had a pretty decent personality.

Then comes Lucas, the magician, AND MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER in the story. I love his expressions, intelligence, humor and personality. I think it was a good decision that the author decided to add a personality like him in the story. Also, I ship him with Athy. They match together perfectly.

About Ijekeil, I think he is a nice and caring character. He comforted Athy when she was at her worst and did not see any profit in it. I shipped him with Athy at first but soon changed my mind. I think he is better off with Jennette.

Oh and how can we forget Jennette. Idk why but I don't get positive vibes from her. She is caring and loving but I think there is a jealous part of her that will be troublesome in the upcoming future, though  it may be just my guess.

Okay and I also have a theory. In chapter 80, when Athanasia figures out why Claude did not feel guilty about executing Athanasia, she cries herself to sleep. She also asks herself the question "why do I feel such strong emotions towards Athanasia of the book"? And also in the same chapter, Lucas says the words, "But it's possible if it's this brat, because she is someone who has crossed through dimensions and time". Taking all this into consideration, I think it was she who was executed before she got reincarnated in the 21st century and after reading the book, she regained her memories for a moment and got reincarnated again as her previous self to set things right, assuming that she died in her second lifetime after taking the pills. I'm not sure if this theory is right but I strongly feel it has something to do with time travel.

. . .

Thnx for reading and have a grt day!!
